ok, interested artists of #fediZineFest2026, I'm worried that signups will open and close quite fast with the interest shown. should i:
a) declare the signup opening time beforehand
b) open signups randomly
AND, should i:
1) send signups out to those on the interest list early (if you choose this, please suggest a # of hours head start. no more than a day)
2) release to the interest list and fedi at the same time

For everyone:
If you are using the same password for Mastodon that you use anywhere else, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD NOW.
A hacker is stealing accounts on Mastodon using something called “credential stuffing.” This means they use email/password combinations stolen from other sites.
This is a common hacking technique. But right now someone is targeting Mastodon accounts.
This is not a security flaw with Mastodon. Someone is just using it across Mastodon.
You can check if your email is in a data breach elsewhere:
Create a new strong password:
1. 12+ characters
2. Capital/lowercase letters
3. At least one special character
For admins:
The hacker is using the same unique user agent.

We’re seeing a pattern of IPs, but they’re from varying ISPs. They’re also not changing the account emails.

🇪🇺 European Citizen's Initiative against ID age verification online
Just yesterday, Stop Killing the Internet, from the people at @StopKillingGames, launched an ECI against ID age verification! This is great but it needs 1 million signatures !
So, if you are a citizen of #eu , please sign it! If you don't, or even if you do, still share it around so more people know about it and can sign it!

Reaching the signature threshold will not mean that ID age verification will immediately become illegal, but the subject will be brought to the @EUCommission and they'll have to do SOMETHING about it. This is already a huge step in the right direction!
