The TV I used as a central speaker for voice calls in my room so I could roam around let out the magic smoke. It made a high pitched metallic screech for about 3 seconds then popped, let out a tiny wisp of smoke, and shut off. Roommate took it apart and it blew a cap or three.
I didn't realize how reliant I'd become on doing jank with Sway and Pipewire to plumb things to that TV without stealing focus or such. I have it mostly replicated now but it's not pretty for my workflow.
TVs aren't exactly trivial to replace in 2026 either, what with the spyware debacle. I'd probably need to find some commercial display or super super cheap dropship brand.
